About April
Hi, I'm April — a Licensed Professional Counselor Associate in the State of Texas, I am supervised by Linda Hart, PhD, LPC-S.
I am so glad you found your way here.
If you've been carrying old wounds that seem to surface no matter how hard you try to leave them behind — if anxiety, numbness, or a constant low hum of stress feels like your normal — I want you to know something: that is not who you are. That is what happened to you. And it can change.
My work is rooted in trauma-informed care, which means I approach every person with the understanding that your nervous system has been doing its very best to protect you. Through working with the body's wisdom, we can gently begin to release what has been held there — often for years — and create space for something different.
I also enjoy my work with couples who feel like they've drifted, lost trust, or simply don't know how to talk to each other anymore without it turning into a fight. You once chose each other. Sometimes you just need a safe space to find your way back.
If you are looking for counseling services, I see clients at two locations onsite in Round Rock and North Austin and virtual throughout the state of Texas. The best place to start is request a 15 minute consultation through the request a consultation page. Consultations are important to assess our fit, get any questions answered and to evaluate which site works best for your needs/situation. The point is to make sure you feel comfortable about moving forward with counseling services.
But I want to be honest with you about something bigger than any single counseling session.
We are living through an extraordinarily difficult time in human history. The pandemic didn't just change our routines — it fractured something deep in the fabric of how we belong to one another. Rates of loneliness, addiction, anger, and fear have soared. People are struggling to make friends, to feel seen at work, to trust that connection is even possible anymore.
I believe healing is not only personal — it is communal. We are wired for belonging. The disconnection so many of us feel is not a personal failing. It is a wound we share. And it is one we can tend to — together.
This space — the blog, the resources, the community I'm building here — is for anyone who is trying to stay human in hard times. Whether you are a current or future client, a curious visitor, a teen trying to survive in a world that feels hostile, or someone who just needs to know they are not alone: you belong here.
Welcome to Illuminated Path. I'm honored to walk it with you. - April
